Rituals and Energy Management
Well, I was just looking through the skill lists for Ritualists (assuming that the skills dont change of course) and I must admit as much as I do like some of their spells I was not a huge fan of their elite Choices. Until I came across this:
Attuned was Songkai (Elite)
Hold Songkai's ashes for up to 45 seconds. While you hold her ashes, your spells and binding rituals cost -5..41..53% of the base energy to cast.
WTF!? Ok maybe I was just blind before but has anyone else noticed this spell yet? Like this is incredible if you have it maxed out. For 45 seconds you can have all your spells and binding rituals cut in half? Fantastic energy management!! The 45 seconds part is what I thought was impressive... That is really a long time to have all your skills cut in half. In addition to that, the cooldown is 1 minute.. so really if you play it right you'll only have to cast spells at full for 15 seconds every minute. You know thats pretty good if you ask me.
I realize its an Elite slot and a lot of the times these slots are the real game changers, the money shot... whatever you want to call it. But so many times GOOD energy management skills fit this bill. See no Further than Ether Prodigy, BiP, OoB, and the list goes on.
What are your thoughts? Am I seeing something that isn't there or is this really a great skill, perhaps even the best Ritual elite?

If I remember correctly, this replaces any weapons or items that you are holding... this means you lose the benefits that a wand or staff might give you (+energy, +hp, +1 attrib., fastcast, etc)... depending on what you're doing, maybe this doesn't matter...

Might be a nifty way of hiding energy from denial.

hmmm really? I did not realize this at all or hear this was the case. Perhaps you are right though. Can anyone confirm if this is true? If so, then yes its less useful but still good none the less. Im curious if this happens or if in fact you do get your special bonus's for your weapons. I guess it would make sense if you didnt.

Nice idea, but don't you think that the LONG recharge times of those binding ritualists and spells will make it...unproductive?
BTW Attuned Was Songkai = Ritualist version of Elemental Attunement
Elemental Attunement is a "meh", in my book.

Better as it cannot be stripped, and it works for all spells.

exactly what I was thinking...
Thats why I feel this is so good. Also Im not even really talking about the Rituals. I know this is going to sound a little funny but I really don't believe that the ritualists backbone is in them casting binding rituals. They have some crazy high powered spells (with very low recharge time I might add), AND they have some awesome healer qualities they were just lacking energy management. TBH I dont know how I missed this skill when I was reading through the list.
In my opinion (At least when I make a ritualist) Ill probably focus on damage, while having 1-2 spirits and some Energy Management. This seems to fit in nicely but hey maybe Ill try it and it'll be trash who knows. Just looks good on paper. I just think this has a lot of potential. Its like a better Attunement. I mean think about it, all those spells that cost 10 E to cast are going to cost 5 E for majority of your battle. Thats a huge difference. I wish I could make all my spells for other classes do that. The day I start paying 8 for Spiteful Spirit Ill loose my mind
Anyways, thanks for the comments. Im just curious if anyone thinks this is viable but I guess we'll find out today. I am going to start a ritualist when I buy factions and see how this works out.

It's linked to Spawning. You won't max out Spawning.

This is true...
However, You dont need to max it. But there is no reason you can't point many points into it and have the rest into Channelling for example.
At 10 points its 35%. Still pretty decent. I will play around with it. I just thought it was a nice idea.

What saddens me though, is that aside from this skill, I dont see any other efficient ways a ritualist can gain energy with "HIS" skills.
For example.. I wanted to make a Ritualist Minion Master. Supposedly, they should be great now, since the ritualist's primary makes summoned/animated creatures stronger. But once I created a couple of bone fiends, my energy was gone, and i couldnt think of any way to get it back fast enough.

Yup, I been playing my ritualist as a Spirit Summoner, and Boon of Creation is pretty much a MUST with spirit spammers. Every spirit that is summoned, at only like 6 in spawning, 5 energy is returned, and you heal for like 30 hp. So at like 12+ Spawning this would be a GREAT skill for Spirit Summoning in PVP.
Only problem, its an enchantment, and can be stripped....
